Data Reporting & Support for Education Setting

Ending the Autumn Term

Schools and colleges should not change their Christmas holidays or close early this term. Parents should continue to send their children to school during term time and students should continue to attend college right up until the end of term. The best place for children and young people is in education.

During the Holiday (Monday 21 December to Friday 1 January)

It is important for education providers to have opportunity for rest over the Christmas holiday period. Not only is it necessary because of the time, energy and hard work that has already been given by so many, but we are still in the COVID-19 pandemic and need to pace ourselves for what lies ahead.

The requirements of education settings and the support available from Education Services during the holiday period, which are outlined below, reflect this.

COVID Requirements of Education Settings:

  • Data Reporting: There will be NO requirement to inform WCC of positive COVID-19 cases using the online form if the isolation period falls only in the school holiday. Please note that the Education COVID Response Helpline and Mailbox support will still be available as below.

COVID Support to Education Settings:

  • Education Services and Early Years support will be closed to business from 25 to 29 December and 1st January.
  • Education COVID Response Team support via the Helpline 01926 412011 and education-corona@warwickshire.gov.uk will be available from 09:00 to 12:00 on all other days of the holiday.
  • Early Years support via earlyyearsadvisors@warwickshire.gov.uk will be business as usual until 4pm Thursday 24 December. Emergency cover will be available from 09:00 to 12:00 on 30 and 31 December.
  • Warwickshire Public Health support at dphadmin@warwickshire.gov.uk will be available 08:00 to 08:00, 7 days a week.
  • Education Corona Briefings will not be sent during the holiday period and will resume on Monday 11 January 2021. There will be no Early Years Briefing on Wednesday 30 December 2020.
  • The Education during Covid-19 web pages will continue to be available for consultation.

Other COVID Support for Education Settings:

  • Department for Education Helpline 0800 046 8687 will be closed to business from 25 to 28 December and 1 January. Opening hours will be: Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. There will be shortened opening hours on 24 December: 08:00 to 16:00, and 31 December: 09:00 to 16:00, and 2nd & 3rd January: 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Family Information Service (FIS): Information and advice for families and carers will be available via the Helpline 01926 742274 and fis@warwickshire.gov.uk from 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday. FIS will be closed to business from 25 to 29 December and on 1st January.
