In-year applications: school responsibilities
To make sure the In-Year application process runs as smoothly as possible, we need you to play your part.
Please make sure that:
- You update your attendance records on the School Access Module (SAM) as often as possible.
- Check your offers every week (ideally on a Wednesday) and let us know as soon as possible if there are any issues or if the offer cannot be made.
- Check all applications (ideally on a Monday or Tuesday) to verify any sibling/staff/feeder school claims.
- You contact the new parent/carer to arrange a start date for their child.
Please do not arrange any interviews or do your own screening or assessment of applications. The Admissions Code - GOV.UK (page 28) is clear that we cannot refuse to admit a child solely because:
- they have applied later than other applicants;
- they are not of the faith of the school in the case of a school designated with a religious character;
- they have followed a different curriculum at their previous school; or
- information has not been received from their previous school.
