After making a safeguarding referral

What happens next?

You will receive written confirmation within 24 hours of submitting the Multi-Agency Referral Form (MARF). If you have not heard back in two working days please contact 01926 414144.

Once you have received the confirmation you should inform the family of the referral.

What are the possible outcomes?

You will receive details of the outcome within two days. This may be:

• support from Universal or Early Help services - this may be an Early Help Assessment
• a social care assessment.

A social care assessment is usually completed in 10 days but can take up to 35 days. It will involve the child's family.

Keep a record of your referral, the confirmation of receipt and any action that you take.

Inform your designated safeguarding lead of the outcome of your referral.

If you disagree with the outcome, please follow the escalation process.
