Each educational setting (nursery, school or FE college) should have a minimum of two SLT members who are designated as safeguarding leads (DSL). They will provide support to staff members to carry out their safeguarding duties and who will liaise closely with other services such as Early Help and Children’s Social Care. In addition, DSLs can be supported by Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) as long as they are all trained to the same level as the DSL. DDSLs can be members of staff in other roles. This Initial DSL training should be followed up by ongoing training through the networks and update training every two years. |
