It is vital that as part of a whole school or college approach to safeguarding, that governing bodies and proprietors create a culture that safeguards and promotes the welfare of children. As part of this, it is important that they adopt robust recruitment procedures that deter and prevent people who are unsuitable to work with children from applying for or securing employment, or volunteering opportunities in schools and colleges (KCSiE para. 206). Please ensure that at least one member of your interview panel has undergone this training. Due to updates in the training is it recommended that a refresher is undertaken every 3-4 years. |
