Effective induction for early years staff is essential for ensuring that new or existing staff who are returning to work are well-prepared and confident in their roles.

Providers / Childminders must ensure that all staff / assistants receive induction training to help them understand their roles and responsibilities. Induction training must include information about emergency evacuation procedures, safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety issues.

Providers/ Childminders must support staff to undertake appropriate training and professional development opportunities to ensure they offer quality learning and development experiences for children that continually improves.

Warwickshire Early Years and Childcare Induction Toolkit has been designed as a framework to support Early Years Providers to review and shape their own policies and procedures for the effective induction of new staff/ assistants. The toolkit contains a guide to effective Induction, a framework for developing an induction policy, a one-minute guide to induction and an induction training plan.
