Reporting sales of vapes to young people

Warwickshire Trading Standards are receiving increasing numbers of complaints about the illegal sale of vapes to young people under the age of 18. Children, some as young as 12, are reported to be buying these products from small shops and corner stores, often located close to schools.

Schools can email trading standard direct with any questions or queries they may have tradingstandards@warwickshire.gov.uk. All information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Schools can report illegal sellers of vapes and tobacco (including sellers of legal and illegal products to children) at tobacco@warwickshire.gov.uk and/or vapes@warwickshire.gov.uk. All information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.

A questionnaire has recently been devised by training standards for schools which aims to capture information and intelligence relating to the sale of vape products which impacts schools/their pupils. Warwickshire secondary schools are welcome to complete the Vape sellers causing problems for your pupils/school form. The information can be used to focus enforcement activities (and enable schools to be part of the solution to problems associated with supply and use of vapes in schools). Any information received will be handled in the strictest confidence.

Parents/guardians can report shops anonymously using a dedicated Warwickshire County Council online reporting tool. Alternatively, contact Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133. All information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
