Early Years SEND Universal Matrix
Early years providers must meet their duties under the Equality Act, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the SEND Code of Practice (0–25). This requires an inclusive ethos, policies and practice, appropriate SEND training, and reasonable adjustments to ensure all children can communicate, play and explore confidently and independently.
Support for children with SEND is delivered at Universal, Targeted and Specialist levels. The Universal Matrix outlines what all Warwickshire early years providers are expected to provide as a minimum, and supports reflection on how well settings are meeting their inclusive responsibilities.
Children may also access targeted or specialist support depending on their individual needs.
