Giving every child the best start in life
The Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life strategy is a government-led initiative aimed at improving outcomes for babies and young children across England. It forms part of the wider Plan for Change and builds on the legacy of programmes like Sure Start, placing a strong emphasis on early intervention, family support, and accessible childcare. Central to the strategy are the Best Start Family Hubs, which offer integrated services including parenting support, early learning guidance, and health advice. The strategy prioritises areas of high deprivation and seeks to ensure that no child’s background limits their potential. Through expanded access to affordable childcare, wraparound provision, and evidence-based interventions, the programme aims to increase the number of children reaching a good level of development by age five, with a long-term vision extending to 2029.
